It’s My Park Day brought in 168 volunteers for a total of 404.5 hours, so we are looking great for our volunteer hour requirements. The volunteer hours promised to get the NPP and APF Grant total 1,220 volunteer hours over the next two years in Balcones Park.
A BIG Thanks to Erik Harris, MNA’s Park & Greenbelt Chair, for spearheading this year’s biggest IMPD ever at our park!
Our fundraiser through Amplify Austin’s 24 hour event was very successful. We raised almost $4,500 towards our goal of $15,000! A Huge Thank You to all those who donated and those who helped us spread the word on the event as well!
Walgreens is hosting their Annual Easter Egg Hunt THIS Saturday at Balcones Park from 11 to 1pm.
There will be hot dogs, drinks, music, games and photos with an Easter Bunny along with the easter egg hunt! All are welcome!

We had a HUGE day at the park today for “It’s My Park Day”! A BIG Thanks to Erik Harris (MNA’s Park Chair) for all the hours he put into the event and for the passion you have for our park! Thanks also to Austin Parks Foundation, along with all those that came out today and helped us give Balcones Park a much needed facelift!
We had around 150 volunteers working an average of 2+ hours! We mulched countless trees, picked up trash, created a berm at the bathrooms, upgraded the bike racks, created washer pits, leveled bball court, reclaimed playground pea gravel, weeded the pool’s beds, and much more! Thanks to Erik and all of the volunteers, including Cub Scout Pack 90, Den 1 Troop and Troop 1446, that gave back to our forgotten park today! Thanks also to David at Home Depot for the donation of play sand.
We are off to a great start for our volunteer hour requirements to earn our $200,000. Now if we can just knock out that $15,000 cash match. Thanks all!
Photos from the day are posted here.
