Walnut Creek Cleanup April 4, 2025, 11 AM – 1 PM

Hi all, we are in need of a few volunteers to cleanup the greenbelt in 2 areas – just west of Mopac along the Northern Walnut Creek Trail and east of Mopac along the creek. We made a good start on the first area during Its My Park Day, but there are a couple of pockets we missed. Here’s the signup link if you’re interested. https://givepul.se/oylhrr

Thanks, Erik Harris

PS: Keep Austin Beautiful is sponsoring this event.

Basketball Court Improvements Complete

The Basketball Court at Balcones Park is up and running with new surfacing, new shorter baskets to accommodate kids, pickleball lining, four square AND lights on a timer. The lights do shut off at the park’s curfew of 10pm regardless of the timer. (We beg of everyone PLEASE don’t dunk on the goals or they won’t last long!)

It has been so great to see the increase in use since the amenities have been updated! A BIG Thanks to PARD for making this happen for our park!

Thanks to H&H Design & Build Inc and all of our volunteers!

Thank you to Karl Hanson with H&H Design & Build, Inc & all the volunteers for another successful BOPAS Collection Event!

We helped nearly 100 neighborhood families correctly dispose of their batteries, oil, paint, antifreeze, and styrofoam (BOPAS) with our event! All told, the collection filled a large trailer, plus three large vehicles! All the materials were dropped off at Austin Resource Recovery where they were disposed of properly.

The event this year was VERY heavy on styrofoam. Karl saved us by being willing to strap much of it down into his trailer bed. In addition, Matt Mitchell was a huge help with jumping in to help drive another car full of foam to the drop-off point..

Thanks to all of our other wonderful volunteers at the event: Michael Lewis, Carolyn Scherrer, Sharon Reed, Dale Butler, Bethany Metzger, Andy Davis, Max Davis, Sam Davis, William Davis, and Tanner Callais!

A special thanks to our event sponsor & neighbor, Karl Hanson with H&H Design and Build, Inc for making this event possible!
